We will be in the magnifient Val d'Orcia, Unesco world heritage and we will visit one of the most spectacular abbey, Sant’Antimo...
Located in a valley at the foot of the village of Castel Nuovo dell'Abate, Sant'Antimo is one of the most mystical and unique places in the province of Siena.
Its history is interminable, perhaps began as an imperial Lombard origin, it experienced periods of maximum splendor in the XII until a rapid and inevitable decline the following century that led to the closure of the building for centuries until 1992 when a a group of Premonstratensian monks moved here again, giving new life to this enchanted place. Here you can still hear sometimes the Gregorian Chants that are part of their daily life.
Then it continues to Montalcino, the city center of the territory and important for one of the most famous wines of Italy: Brunello di Montalcino. Our visit begins with the mighty fortress that awaits us at the entrance of the town and welcomes us protecting us from every side that is what overlooks the valley or what looks at the red roofs of the houses of the village.
Continue along the streets of Montalcino until you reach the cathedral dedicated to San Salvatore and inside which there are important works by Francesco Vanni and Barocci. Then continue along the main street until you reach the town hall square with its beautiful and slender clock tower that stands there almost as if guarding those arriving .. Continue towards the garden square to admire one of the most beautiful landscapes of all - the Val d'Orcia.
