In the south of Tuscany, you can visit one of the most important archaeological sites in Italy – Roselle, which was first Etruscan and then a Roman city. Located on a plateau overlooking the valley – the view from Roselle is breathtaking.
Archaeological excavations have brought to light many fascinating buildings we are able to visit, such as the Basilica, the Domus dei Mosaici and the might Amphitheater. Visiting here is a journey through time spanning a long, eventful history.
We will continue to the nearby town of Grosseto, the chief town of the area known as the “Maremma”. Today Grosseto seems calm and dormant, but the testimonies of a rich history are evident with its lovingly restored “Cassero”, the 14C church of San Francesco with a beautiful crucifix by Duccio and its beautiful Plaza where you will find the statue of the Grand Duke Leopoldo.
